ANREV, INREV and NCREIF have signed a Global Alliance Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to advance the global agenda of transparency, accessibility and professionalism and increase harmonisation across the non-listed real estate industry. The alliance brings together the major industry bodies of Asia Pacific, Europe and the US.

During the briefing, John Moutsopoulos and Grant Mackinlay of KPMG Australia delivered a presentation and discussion on recent changes to Australia’s regulatory framework for foreign fund managers that wish to raise capital from Australian investors; specifically:
- Update on ASIC s recent repeal of licensing exemptions for foreign fund managers who have clients in Australia or wish to raise capital in Australia;
- legal and tax implications for ANREV members with an existing book of clients in Australia including transitional arrangements;
- legal and tax implications of key options for ANREV members going forward to raise capital in Australia including reliance on other licensing relief, applying for a foreign licence, or setting up a local office and applying for a standard license.

The ANREV Australia Core Open End Fund Monthly Index (ACOE) saw a total return of -3.43% in April 2020. The ACOE includes 19 funds with a total GAV of AUD 111.34 billion.
The ACOE index also reports data on geographic allocation by sectors.

ANREV, INREV and NCREIF have released the first Global IRR index providing data on the performance of value added and opportunity closed end non-listed real estate funds in Asia Pacific, Europe and the US.
The webinar discussed the relationship between ANREV, INREV and NCREIF, and provide an overview of the new index.

Data contributions were received from 100 funds with a total gross asset value of US$136.5 billion. The All Asia Index headline return was 7.9% in local currency for 2019 compared with 9.6% in 2018.

ANREV, INREV and NCREIF have released the first Global IRR index providing data on the performance of value added and opportunity closed end non-listed real estate funds in Asia Pacific, Europe and the US.
Highlights of the first index release show:
- The first consultation release of the Global IRR features 294 closed end non-core strategy funds
- Asia Pacific region is represented by 62 funds, European region by 102 and US – by 130 funds
- Funds launched between 2011 and 2013 posted the highest average IRRs across the time series of the index, while those launched between 2004 and 2008 – the lowest
