ANREV Investment Intentions Survey 2024 - Tokyo Launch Event
The 2024 ANREV/INREV/PREA Investment Intentions survey covered allocations and investment intentions of major institutional investors and funds of funds managers. Ms. Amélie Delaunay, ANREV's Senior Director of Research & Professional Standards, shared with us the key highlights of the survey. The event was kicked off by Mr. Koichiro Obu, who shared his latest insights on the Japan real estate market, followed by the presentation of survey results and a panel discussion, and concluded with networking drinks.

Speakers
Amélie Delaunay is the Senior Director of Research and Professional Standards for ANREV, the Asian association for investors in non-listed real estate vehicles where she leads a team of five, responsible for the development and implementation of ANREV’s Research, Market information and Professional Standards programmes in Asia Pacific, including ANREV indices, global surveys and promotion of best practices for the industry.
Amélie has more than 19 years of experience in the real estate industry and a strong real estate consulting background initially with Ernst & Young. She has been based in Asia for more than 16 years.
Educated at the Sorbonne in Paris, where she was awarded a post graduate degree in Urban Geography, Town Planning and Real Estate, Amélie also has an Advanced Master's Degree in Urban and Real Estate Management from ESSEC Business School in Paris. Amélie is a member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors.
Mr. Obu joined the company in 2007. With more than 20 years of experience in real estate research, he is responsible for building strategies and coordinating coverage of real estate markets in Asia Pacific. He also heads real estate team in Japan since 2023. Before joining, he was Head of real estate and construction team at Corporate Research Department at Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation in Tokyo (SMBC) and was also a senior researcher at SMBC in London covering the real estate sector in Europe.
Koichiro holds BA in Economics from University of Tokyo.
Joined the Company in 2014 with 21 years of industry experience. Prior to his current role, Koichiro served as Head of Alternatives Specialists, Japan. Before that, he served as Head of Real Estate for Japan. Prior to joining, he headed the business development and disposition initiatives for Japan at Prudential Real Estate Investors (PGIM Real Estate). Previously, he was an executive director for investment banking in Japan at Morgan Stanley ). He started his career at Mitsui Fudosan.
BA in Economics from Keio University; MA from The School of Arts & Sciences of the University of Pennsylvania; MBA from The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania.
Kazunari Yaguchi is a Senior Managing Director, Head of Real Estate Investment Department of Japan Post Bank. He is responsible for all real estate related investments across the globe by the bank. He joined Japan Post Bank in March 2016 and established its Real Estate Investment from scratch. Now the bank invests sizable capital in all 4 quadrants composed of public-private and equity-debt.
Kazunari has over 24 years of experience in real estate space in both equity and debt investments. Prior to Japn Post Bank, he was an executive director responsible for real estate investment in the Asset Finance Deparment of Development Bank of Japan ("DBJ"). During his 23 years at DBJ, he orginated more than $10 billion of commercial mortgage loans and acquired more than $3 billion of properties. He established its real estate asset management subsidiary which became one of the largest private real estate fund manaagers in Japan.
He received LLB Law from Tohoku University, Japan, and Masters in Finance from London Business School, UK. He is a CFA and CAIA charterholder.
John Pattar (Hong Kong) joined KKR in 2018 and is a Partner and Head of KKR's Real Estate business in Asia Pacific. He oversees all aspects of the firm’s Asia Real Estate business including the investment strategy, asset management and fundraising of KKR’s Asia Real Estate opportunistic fund series, as well as the firm’s Asia Core Plus Real Estate strategy. Mr. Pattar is a member of KKR’s Asia Real Estate Investment Committee and KKR’s Asia Real Estate Portfolio Management Committee. In addition to this, Mr. Pattar sits on the Board of Directors of KKR Japan Realty Management (KJRM), a $14bn1 REIT manager in Japan that manages about 200 properties across two listed J-REITs.
Prior to joining KKR, Mr. Pattar was the CEO of CLSA Real Estate since 2004. At CLSA, Mr. Pattar built a Pan-Asian real estate platform for the firm.
Mr. Pattar holds a Bachelor of Laws degree from King's College London, University of London (LLB) and is a Fellow of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (F.R.I.C.S.).
