The ANREV Young Professionals Conference 2024 was successfully held in Hong Kong on 5 November 2024. This conference, centered around the theme "Charting the uncharted: Navigating real estate's new horizons," brought together approximately 100 professionals who shared a common interest. The event took place at the Conrad Hotel, offered a conducive environment for engaging and networking with peers in the industry, as well as senior management teams from key players.

Charles Haase is Chief Executive of ANREV, the Asian Association for Investors in Non-Listed Real Estate Vehicles. ANREV is a member driven non-profit organization producing research and indices relevant to the private real estate industry in Asia Pacific, and promoting improved transparency and best practices across the region.
Prior to joining ANREV, Charlie had experience on both sides of the investment table, working for Aetos Japan and Tokyu Fudosan Holdings Corporation in Tokyo, and for the California State Teachers’ Retirement System in the United States. Prior to joining CalSTRS, Charlie was on the Economics faculty of San Francisco State University. He holds a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of California, Davis.
Yian Wang is responsible for portfolio management in APAC and investment activities in Greater China. She has rich experience in real estate investment and asset management in Greater China across asset classes. Ms. Wang has worked in both Mainland China and Hong Kong with prior investment management roles including Morgan Stanley Real Estate Investing and Hongkong Land, a subsidiary of Jardine Matheson Group. She graduated with First Class from the University of Cambridge and has an M.A., M. Eng and B.A. in Chemical Engineering and is a Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst.
Ms. Lau is a Managing Director in the Ares Secondaries Group, where she focuses on real estate secondaries. Prior to joining Ares in 2022, she was a Senior Portfolio Manager at Hong Kong Monetary Authority, where she led the Asia real estate acquisition and portfolio management. Previously, Ms. Lau was a Director at Aetos Capital Real Estate, where she was responsible for Asia ex-Japan investments and asset management. In addition, Ms. Lau was an Analyst at Morgan Stanley's Real Estate Investing business. She holds a B.S. from Carnegie Mellon University in Business Administration.
Doreen Yu is a Managing Director of BGO Strategic Capital Partners based in Hong Kong. Doreen is responsible for the sourcing, evaluating and executing of investment opportunities as well as managing the overall Asia Pacific portfolio. Prior to merging with BentallGreenOak in April 2021, Doreen held similar responsibilities under the firm name Metropolitan Real Estate Equity Management, wholly owned by The Carlyle Group. Doreen received her BSc in Government and Economics from The London School of Economics and Political Science and her Master in Real Estate Development from the University of Southern California. She previously was the Chairperson of the ANREV Young Professional Committee, and she is currently a Member of the Hong Kong Urban Land Institute's Capital Markets Committee.”
Gilles covers Asia-Pacific markets with a focus on North Asia, South-East Asia, and new initiatives. He has led some of CPP Investments’ milestone investments around the region and his priorities include business development, transactions, and investment relationships.
Gilles joined CPP Investments in 2010 and has over 25 years of experience across several real estate business lines including development, construction management, asset management, private equity and fund management, and has been professionally based in Australia, Singapore, UK, Belgium and now Hong Kong. He has extensive experience in establishing and managing cross-border investments and joint ventures in Europe and Asia-Pacific and has previously held investment roles in Lend Lease, MGPA, and Aviva Investors.
Victor Law is an Associate with CPP Investments’ Real Estate Asia team, based in Hong Kong, and is responsible for real estate investments and asset management in the region. Prior to joining CPP Investments, Victor was an Associate Director at Manulife Investment Management (“Manulife”), where he focused on real estate acquisitions across Asia. Prior to Manulife, Victor was an Analyst and a member of the Asia listed real estate investments team at LaSalle Investment Management.
Victor holds a B.Sc. in Accounting and Finance from the London School of Economics and Political Science.
Sally Law is a real estate finance lawyer, with experience advising bank and fund lenders, as well as sponsors, on Hong Kong and cross border real estate financing transactions (including limited recourse loans, direct lending, fund financings, non-performing loans, special situations and mezzanine debts).
Sally is a native Cantonese speaker, speaks fluent English and Mandarin, and can read and write in English and Chinese. She regularly negotiates and drafts finance documents in Chinese in her PRC onshore and offshore real estate financing
Harry Ip has 25 years of real estate investment and asset management experience in Asia Pacific.
Prior to joining Gaw Capital Partners, Mr. Ip served as Senior Portfolio Manager for Abu Dhabi Investment Authority from 2010 to 2023. Before that, Mr. Ip also worked as Vice President for Wachovia Bank and Associate Director for Jones Lang LaSalle.
Mr. Ip holds a Bachelor of Science in Surveying from the University of Hong Kong and a Bachelor of Laws from the University of London. He is also a professional member of Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors and Hong Kong Institute of Surveyors, and a CFA Charterholder.
Ricky Tse is Senior Vice President, Investment Management of GLP Capital Partners. Ricky’s key focus is expanding and managing GLP Capital Partners’ investment footprint in Hong Kong. Prior to joining GLP Capital Partners, Ricky was a Managing Director at ICBC International and before his departure, he was Head of Real Estate Investment as well as Head of Fund Management. During his nine-year tenure at ICBC International, he managed and invested over USD2Bn of capital in real estate equity and debt projects expanding across Australia, Hong Kong and Mainland China. Before joining ICBC International, Ricky was a Vice President at Morgan Stanley Real Estate. Ricky graduated from University of New South Wales with Bachelor of Commerce (Actuarial Studies & Finance) and LLB (Law).
Tim Jowett joined Hines in June 2023 as Managing Director, Head of Asia Pacific Research. He brings with him 20 years’ experience in global real estate investment management and has been based in Asia for the last 12 years, focusing on Asia Pacific private real estate markets. Prior to Hines, he spent 7 years in leadership roles at Grosvenor Asia, a private balance sheet investor, as Director of Investment Strategy and Analysis and as Managing Director, Head of China, during which time he sat on the Board. Prior to this, he led or worked for research and strategy teams based in Hong Kong, Abu Dhabi, and London for global investment managers, Heitman and JP Morgan Asset Management, and the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority .
Tim holds a BA and MA in History from King’s College London, and a Diploma in Financial Strategy from Said Business School, University of Oxford.
Bianca is fuelled by a passion for creating connections and driving investment in real estate through trusted relationships.
Based in Sydney, Bianca is an Associate at HMC Capital where she works to connect investors to high-conviction and scalable real estate opportunities. Prior to joining HMC Capital, Bianca held roles at Dexus and Lendlease specialising in Australian real estate funds management and marketing.
Bianca is a member of the ANREV Young Professionals Working Group and is a Co-Founder of The Property Circle, a network of young women in the industry in Sydney. Bianca holds a Bachelor of Arts (Communications) from the University of Melbourne and a Master of Property with Distinction from RMIT University.
Eric Huang is Principal of Hodes Weill & Associates in the Hong Kong office, responsible for coverage of institutional investors in Greater China as well as project management of client mandates in the Asia Pacific region.
Previously, Mr. Huang was a Vice President at LaSalle Investment Management where he has worked extensively in different disciplines of real estate investment management including portfolio management, investor relations and product management. Prior to LaSalle Investment Management, Mr. Huang was a manager in PricewaterhouseCoopers, providing assurance and M&A transaction services across a wide range of industries.
Mr. Huang holds a Chartered Financial Analyst (“CFA”) designation, and he is also a Certified Public Accountant (“CPA”) in Hong Kong and mainland China, respectively. Mr. Huang received a BBA in Professional Accountancy from the Chinese University of Hong Kong. Mr. Huang serves as the chair in ANREV’s Young Professionals Working Group and is a member of ULI’s Young Leaders Committee.
Priyank Shah is head of fund management and strategic business development at Logicap Management, the logistics fund management entity of Rava Partners. Rava Partner’s new real estate fund is actively deploying in the India market. Shah joined Logicap last year after nearly 13 years at JLL in Singapore and India covering cross boarder equity advisory across the Asia Pacific region and a brief stint as a interest rate derivatives trader
In his current role he looks after capital partnerships and business development for new investments to grow out the fund management business within the platforms new economy sectors such as logistics industrial and digital infrastructure.
Shah has over 15 years of experience having worked with several large capital providers and real estate platforms advising them on their capital strategies.
Based in Singapore, Janice is an investment analyst at Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan, where she is responsible for real estate investments and portfolio management across the Asia Pacific region. Prior to this, she was an Investment Associate at IGIS, where she contributed to the launch of IGIS' APAC regional office, focused on real assets acquisitions, and fostered relationships with key stakeholders.
Janice holds a Bachelor of Science (Honors) in Real Estate from the National University of Singapore, and is currently a member of the ANREV’s Young Professionals Working Group.
Michael Tanujaya is the Head of Strategy and Investment for ST Telemedia Global Data Centres (STT GDC). In this role, he oversees STT GDC’s global strategic initiatives, including growth into new regions, capital raising and M&A activities.
Prior to joining STT GDC, he was a Director with the Canadian Pension Plan Investments (CPP Investments), where he managed private real estate investments across Southeast Asia. His career also includes various investment management roles at Lendlease in both Australia and Asia, and financial management roles at General Electric.
Michael Tanujaya holds an Executive MBA from The Australia Graduate School of Management and a dual Bachelor degree in Commerce and Science from the University of Melbourne. He is also a Certified Practicing Accountant (CPA).
Min H. Lim is a Partner, Head of Asia Pacific, and member of the Investment Committee and Global Macro Strategy Committee at The Townsend Group. Mr. Lim is responsible for leading Townsend’s business across Asia Pacific including investment, portfolio management, and business development. He currently serves on the Management Board and Investor Advisory Council of ANREV (the Asian Association for Investors in Non-Listed Real Estate Vehicles).
Prior to joining The Townsend Group, Mr. Lim was an Associate with AllianceBernstein’s Real Estate Private Equity Group in New York, where he was responsible for underwriting, executing, and asset managing real estate investments in office, multifamily, condominium, and hotel properties in the US. Prior to AllianceBernstein, Mr. Lim was an Analyst at Citigroup Real Estate Investment Banking in New York. At Citigroup, Mr. Lim primarily worked on advising public REITs on M&A transactions, strategic alternatives, and public and private capital formation.
Mr. Lim received a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration concentrating in Finance from Kenan-Flagler Business School at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
Witold Smieszek is the Investment Director at Paramount Capital, a proprietary fund based in Hong Kong. Paramount Capital is a thesis-driven liquid token fund, focusing primarily on investments in decentralised finance and blockchain infrastructure.
Witold specializes in decentralised finance (DeFi) primitives and blockchain infrastructure, including scaling solutions, modularity, rollups, cross-chain messaging, data availability, and liquid token staking protocols. His original research and strategic investment decisions have been pivotal in shaping the fund's investment thesis.
Before assuming his current role, Witold transitioned from a successful career in business operations management to the crypto industry, driven by a passion for innovative technologies, decentralisation, and free market dynamics. His career is marked by substantial cross-cultural, international experience and a robust track record in operational leadership, strategic planning, and the execution of complex projects across multiple sectors.
Witold holds a Master’s Degree in Economics from The University of Hong Kong, where he graduated top of his class with distinction.
With 30+ years’ experience dedicated to real estate and technology, Bernie is a leader in digital transformation in real estate and using data to create a more competitive and collaborative environment. Currently responsible for the growth of Yardi Systems in Asia Pacific, Bernie lives in Hong Kong and is a qualified accountant and economist.
He supports real estate clients with Retail, Commercial, Industrial, Residential and Mixed-Use assets, helping them to grow their operations, create efficiencies, and gain better insight into their business. His expertise includes asset and investment management, private equity, operations improvement, program and project management, finance, technology implementation and compliance.
Bernie has led large-scale technology projects, as well as led and supported Proptech start-ups, across Australia, the USA, Middle East, Asia and Europe. He has over 60 publications to his name, and extensive public speaking experience. He is actively working with several charities focused on the marine environment and child education in Hong Kong and China.
