At this session, Noral Wild of JLL, Chiang Wei Ng of Allianz, James Choi of Harrison Street and Stephen Gaitanos of Scape shared with us their insights on student accommdoation and how Asia compared with UK and US.

Noral Wild is the Head of Alternative Investments for JLL Australia. Prior to returning to JLL in 2011 Noral worked as an Executive Director with Ernst & Young Real Estate Advisory Services group for almost 10 years and worked at JLL previously for a period of 5 years. Noral runs the Alternative Investment team in Australia for JLL which covers seniors living, student accommodation, education, childcare, health and medical, datacentres, self storage, renewables, co-working/living and multifamily sectors. Services provided by JLL in these markets include transactions, specialist consulting and valuations.
Noral has over 23 years experience in real estate, she is a licensed estate agent and a certified practising valuer. Noral serves on various committees including the Property Council of Australia and the Australia Property Institute.

Chiang Wei Ng is the Head of Asset Management of Allianz Real Estate Asia-Pacific. He joined the company in 2019 and is based in Singapore. Prior to joining Allianz, he was Vice President Asset Management at Goldman Sachs. Chiang Wei has a bachelor‘s degree in Engineering from the Case Western Reserve University in Singapore.

Stephen is a co-founder of Scape.
As Managing Director and Group CEO of Scape Australia, Stephen is responsible for Scape Australia’s strategy across investment, capital transactions and merger and acquisition activities including financing and investor relations, a position he has held since 2013.
Stephen has 17 years’ real estate investment, private equity and investment banking experience in Australia, Asia and Europe. Having previously held real estate investing and corporate finance positions with Morgan Stanley Real Estate, Merrill Lynch and Macquarie Bank.
Stephen has significant experience within the real estate alternatives sector globally including the Purpose Built Student Accommodation (PBSA), Co-Living and Built-to-Rent (MultiFamily) sectors in Australia, UK & US (and was previously Non-Executive Director and shareholder of PAD Student Living in Australia).

Mr. Choi is a Director, Investor Relations for Harrison Street. Harrison Street is a leading asset management firm that is exclusively focused on alternative real assets. Since inception in 2005, the Firm has created a series of differentiated investment solutions focused on demographic-driven, needs-based assets. Currently, the firm manages $32 billion in assets globally. Based in Los Angeles, Mr. Choi leads the firm's investor relations and business development efforts in the Western United States and Asia-Pacific regions. In previous roles, he has worked in Portfolio Management, helping launch the Harrison Street Core Property Fund, the industry’s first open-ended core fund focused exclusively in Education, Healthcare and Storage-based real estate. During his tenure at Harrison Street, Mr. Choi has raised institutional capital across multiple vehicles and strategies in the firm’s target sectors.
Mr. Choi holds a B.B.A. from the University of Wisconsin – Madison in Real Estate and Urban Land Economics and is a CFA charter holder.
