JD Lai Head of Acquisitions, Asia and Head of Japan M&G Real Estate Asia JD Lai is Head of Acquisitions, Asia and Head of Japan at M&G Real Estate Asia. He oversees all business’s acquisition activities including sourcing and executing both on and off market transactions across its core Asia markets. He has more than 17 years of Asia real estate markets experience, working in a number of the region’s financial hubs including Tokyo, Hong Kong, and Singapore. Prior to joining M&G, he was Director & Head of Investments at Straits Real Estate, where he managed an Asia Pacific investment mandate across multiple asset classes including office, retail and residential. Other roles include senior positions at Goldman Sachs’ real estate principal investment area (REPIA) in Japan and Singapore, and Carlyle Asia Real Estate Partners in Hong Kong. He started his career as an analyst in the International Principal Finance Group of Shinsei Bank, focusing on acquisition of non-performing loan portfolios. JD graduated magna cum laude from Tufts University with a B.A. in Economics and International Relations. |
