Technological developments, from AI to blockchain to ICOs and smart buildings, have the capacity to dramatically impact not just the design and operation of real estate, but also the asset management industry that drives investment and development across the sector.

Matthew Nortcliff, Partner, CMS

Matthew is a partner with global law firm CMS and heads the firm’s Funds and Indirect Real Estate practice in Asia, having been based in Singapore since 2010. Matthew’s clients include a wide spectrum of fund managers, from institutional real estate GPs to VC and tech fund specialists. Matthew also advises global and regional investors on all aspects of direct and indirect real estate investment. Matthew’s interest in Proptech is born from the convergence of his institutional and entrepreneurial client bases – with the emergence of Proptech venture capital being a key current trend.

Anja Baer, Co-founder, CASA Real Estate

Anja Baer is a Swiss blockchain enthusiast and co-founder of CASA Real Estate AG.

Before CASA, Anja had business development roles at Bain & Company in Zurich and at UBS Wealth Management in Switzerland and Singapore.

Having privately invested in blockchain assets since late 2016, she was fascinated by the transformational potential of blockchain technology in the world of finance. Anja founded CASA in 2018 together with partners from the proptech and VC space to bring real estate investments onto the blockchain.

CASA takes advantage of two opportunities: Letting residential properties on short-term basis to maximize yield, and tokenizing investments to add liquidity to an otherwise highly illiquid asset class.

Jack was also the founder of Disrupt Property, the first real estate tech platform to discover and track global PropTech start-ups, which was acquired by Unissu in July 2018.

Jordan Kostelac, Head of Proptech, JLL

Jordan Kostelac focuses on Digital Drive and Continuous Innovation at JLL through the creation and deployment of Property Technology (PropTech) platforms for the Asia Pacific region. Working with both internal and external stakeholders, he guides the exploration of how technology can positively disrupt built environments.

Jordan worked for 12 years in FMCG operations management and later process improvement consulting. Since joining JLL, he has worked as a workplace strategy and change management consultant for many of JLL’s largest global clients.

His interdisciplinary background lends a unique perspective that sits outside traditional real estate methods. He has a proven track record of success in aligning the requirements of operations teams with the strengths of their technology partners in large multinational organizations.

His experience in project delivery has demonstrated the importance of a strategic approach. He understands how a strong aspirational direction aligned with strategic business goals can positively influence the success of organizational transformation.

His time spent working across Asia, the United States, and Australia has strengthened his cross-cultural communication skills and ability to localize the application of global strategies.

In addition to his professional endeavors, Jordan is Development Director for HKwalls, an internationally recognized non-profit street art festival that is transforming Hong Kong neighborhoods into galleries of public art. The intersection of these two passions creates opportunity to inject creativity into even the most traditional organizations
