The Companies (Amendment) Ordinance 2018 (Amendment Ordinance) enters into effect on 1 March 2018, introducing a requirement for Hong Kong incorporated companies to identify and ascertain person(s) who have significant control over the company, and maintain a significant controllers register to be accessible by law enforcement officers upon demand. All in-scope Hong Kong companies will need to take immediate action to comply with the requirements.
